Peace in the Madness

Are you one of those people that need this reminder every day? Because I sure am!

I’m always trying to find some way to get a little more control on my life. It’s hectic as all get out. I wake every day at 5am. Sometimes I’m able to sit down and drink tea in peace or get on my yoga mat and flow to warm my body, calm my mind, and open my heart. But often times the peace does not last long before I am on a call with someone from Europe or India. I work from home full time, but I feel that is a deceiving concept to most. I might work from home, but that also means it’s not your typical 9-5 job. There are days where I’ll be on non stop calls with coworkers around the globe early morning, midday, late at night. There are other days where I’m slammed with multiple projects and deadlines that seem impossible.
No matter how many times I try to get a handle on my work load, it never fails that it tumbles out of control.

This was not working! I was losing my mind and losing traction with progress in my life. So I decided to try something new. I took a breath, expected complete and utter chaos, and was somehow mentally prepared for the day. I expected calls. I expected frustration and disagreements. I expected hard work and insane deadlines. And the most magical thing happened. I WAS PREPARED for whatever the day held. 🙌

While I still like to make a list of things to do every day for myself – laundry, dishes, walks with Ferro, etc., I’ve decided to be flexible with it. Allow the chaos to reign supreme because she is a supreme bitch if you try to defy her. Roll with the punches. It will still suck, but you’ll at least know what to expect and be prepared for it.

It reminds me of sucking on a sour candy. You know it’s going to be sour and your lips will pucker, but you just have to do it to get to the good stuff. The sweet part. The success of a project, a job well done.

So here is my #wednesdaywisdom: Pucker up, folks! 💋#madalynbeck
