From Falling to Healing

February 1, 2020

Many people have seen posts about the things I have been doing in order to heal, but it sounds like a good amount do not know from what. I've decided to answer that question today... On the 4 year anniversary of the incident. 4 years ago I was a dancer, a runner, a yogi. I enjoyed being active through multiple activities including trying kickboxing and self-defense classes. Anything to get out and work off the[...]

Lonely by Madalyn Beck

December 24, 2019

If it were up to me, you would never become acquainted with lonely. You would never learn the way the chill wraps around your bones and whispers that you will never know what it means to be warm. Where the fires of love and passion grow into a distant hallucination. If it were up to me, I'd hold you until eternity caved in on us both and we took the galaxies with us into the dark and cold, but at least we could keep[...]

The Big 3-0

August 16, 2019

I will be turning the big 3-0 soon. I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, I hate getting older. On the other, I feel so much more freedom with who I am, where I am going, and the things I want to accomplish. So, for the most part, I guess you could say I'm feeling pretty darn good about it. My health is only getting better since the injury. In fact, my chiropractor says I should be good as new arou[...]

Current poetry books

July 2, 2019

I have poetry books. I don't advertise them much because I'm always growing, so I tend to gradually like my old books less and less. I'm always trying to do more and better my craft. So I do have books, but they are a few years old. I have grown so much since then. I'm more excited about what is to come. These past creations will always be buried treasures and I will hold them close for the rest of my days. As I pro[...]

Paralysis – a chapbook

June 4, 2019

A lot of people ask - why a chapbook? Let's start there. This is a story. Something that has been challenging and life-altering. Three years ago, I heard every bone in my spine snap from the base of my skull through the middle of my back. It was a moment, mere seconds, but the effects were lasting. It was a form of Paralysis from a dance injury. I would tell my body to move, and the only sign that my muscles[...]

Hold on

April 30, 2019

Would you do anything to take the pain from those you love? It kills me to know that I cannot keep the evils I have seen from other hearts, but, since I cannot save you from the pain, I will sit with you through it. I will ache with you and bleed with you, and I will be there to help you rise again. I will be there to tell you that the only way it gets easier is by pushing forward, looking into the wounds, and co[...]

Not for them…

April 25, 2019

The worst moments in my life have left scars not visible to the naked eye. They rest on my heart. I do not talk about them often because it feels tender to touch them. But looking back, I smile. Not at the memories themselves, but the moments I grew, the lessons I learned, and the times I decided that my personal health and well-being needed to come first. Personal Life Lesson I have suffered from depression,[...]

Maybe That is the Problem

April 20, 2019

Often we forget that it's not about being content with who we are. It's about striving to always be the best version of ourselves. Over the last year I've felt stuck in a rut. There were so many things I felt that were holding me back when I was desperate to push forward. But I was viewing the change all wrong. The entire time these things in my life were pushing me to change, and I was digging my feet in figh[...]
